ABOUT THE VELVET UNDERGROUND

The Velvet Underground were an art rock band from New York City that was founded in 1964 and disbanded in 1973. Their core members included Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, and Moe Tucker, along with Doug Yule who replaced Cale in 1968. Though the band never quite broke into the mainstream, their experimentation and dark lyricism were highly influential to the rock bands that came after.
