SUICIDE MAGAZINE No. 2502

All paragraphs written by charpine.

Fifty years ago, punk was the next big thing. Songs with hard-hitting lyrics backed with no more than three or four chords took over the rock and roll landscape, completely changing the course of music history and eventually birthing many new genres like noise, post-punk, goth, industrial, and many more. Now, animation is next in line to recieve the punk treatment.

Here's SUICIDE MAGAZINE, a webzine which will have news information about charpine stuff and, on occasion, other internet animators that do stuff I think is interesting. Every time the day on the calendar resets to "01", there'll be a new issue, starting with this one. If you'd like to contribute, start an animated series, no matter how talentless you think you are. It'll still be more interesting than whatever Glitch productions is making right now.

It semms like every month or so, some random indie animation guy uploads a new pilot. It's great to see animation become more active than ever, but I feel like all the people behind these things think animation starts and ends with making polished-looking characters move smoothly and spending up to 5 minutes writing something that's absolutely deep and thoughtful (it's not). As a result, the animation looks really nice, but the writing ends up being mundane at best and absolutely horrendous at worst. The music's nothing to write home about either since it's usually either generic classical or electronica music if you're lucky. All the other music genres ceased to exist I guess, especially the ones mentioned earlier.

That's why I started SUICIDE MAGAZINE, to help animation break out of the box built around it and allow it to do new and unique things by stripping it down to its roots. Animations that are mostly simple-looking and a few mintues long, yet going in directions all the indie animation guys don't even dare go in.

ANIMATIONS

Anyways, never mind the bollocks, here's the actual charpine news. For the past few months now, I've been working on making an animated adaption of FMC-I. The characters will most likely be different because Noki's monologuing doesn't transfer well to animation, but the transforming cats and goths will still be there for sure.

Anyways, stay tuned for 2503 for some actual useful information instead of paragraphs upon paragraphs of yapping along with a singular news-related one.
