im bored so here is this thing i filled out which can be found here. I wrote the answers to these on august 13, 2026.

1. Please introduce yourself.: i am charpine and i make art and other stuff like that
2. How long have you been making websites?: i've been making website designs since 2019 but put nothing online until 2021
3. And what got you into the hobby?: it's cool to have your own website i guess
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?: the unique art ones
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?: i start with a few mockups and then put it into html format. afterwards, i go from there.
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.: for web design in particular, it's probably the various incarnations of radiohead's website.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?: the interactivity and making things actually do stuff
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?: finishing the large stuff like uploading a bunch of comics and art
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?: different
10. How confident are you with CSS?: i'll be fine as long as i can look things up
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?: i haven't used it at all until now and it doesn't seem that compliated so yes
12. What is your favourite HTML element?: <br>
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?: draw out the idea i have
14. Do you know JavaScript?: i know exactly as much as i need for whatever i need it for
15. How about PHP?: no because neocities doesn't support it
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?: somewhat
17. Are you more focused on content or design?: equal
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?: as of writing, not yet. i'd love to but icann decided "if you want a domain, give us all your personal information for us to display to the world unless you pay your registar more money because fuck your privacy."
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?: meh
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?: of course. who's lazy enough to not even check?
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?: they're a nice way to link together websites so it feels more connected
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?: see previous question
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?: depends on my mood
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?: no
25. What text editor do you use?: notepad++ offline, neocities code editor online
26. Why do you use that one?: they format things or something
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?: on the web server (neocities). i don't use a lot of colors so individual PNGs tend to be low in file size
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?: i need to look more into nekoweb
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?: currently, it's 12.6mb but if i locked in and uploaded all my stuff, it'd probably get up to like 60mb maybe?
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?: yes
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?: as long as it doesn't make my computer fan run i don't really care
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?: red and black because they are the edgy colors
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?: no because the alternative is social media and i'd rather have full control over how my stuff gets displayed
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?: solitary
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?: no
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?: on average, once a week. as an average, the range can be huge.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?: typically about once a year is when i refresh the site because i get bored with the site design after a while and desire to do something new
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?: art-focused
39. Do you do web design professionally?: you think people are gonna pay for someone who looks like they spent five seconds making his site?
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?: no. as for work ummmm
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?: no because i basically never get sent any
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?: i have youtube but that's it
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?: i use discord but that is secret
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?: yes right now i am listening to sad skinhead by epic krautrock band faust
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?: everything on one site
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?: many
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?: the third option
48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?: not yet (i've tried but this didn't work out)
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?: generally yes. javascript on the other hand...
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?: for neocities specifically, doing everything in the code editor. i think it's cleaner to do drafts offline until you're ready in which then, you can upload it to neocities. the code editor can still be useful for making updates or any other small changes
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?: put effort into navigation instead of just making it look pretty
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?: i try to utilize semantic html, though my website is too simple for it to really make much of a difference
53. Do you consider different browsers?: no
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.: i use firefox. it has a cute fox that appears sometimes like when you go to a website that doesn't exist.
55. And what OS are you on?: windows 11 without the ai bullshit
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?: i'm too lazy to install linux
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?: no but it's not as bad as other sites here
58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?: i love being jumpscared by shitty y2k music
59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?: one, the webcomicring because i have a webcomic so why not
60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?: no
61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?: no it's very minimal compared to other sites
62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?: something that can express the style of an artist or whoever else is running the site. yes i'm striving for that
63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?: yes x2
64. What are your favourite resource sites?: does w3schools count
65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?: forgetting to do stuff on the website
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?: good luck lol
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?: if it's something intended for all pages, it's in css. if it's only meant for one page, then i hard-code it.
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?: fine i guess
69. How about table-based layouts?: if it works it works
70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?: those seem like they'd only be useful for certain cases and i haven't ran into those yet
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?: html
72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.: yes but you gotta find it (hint: it's in fmc-i)
73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?: only when the need arises
74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?: between beginner and middle
75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?: no
76. How did YOU learn how to make websites?: i looked up how to do various things in html online and eventually made functional websites from that knowledge
77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?: no
78. Thoughts on floating elements?: i like them because they can make things look nicer
79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?: px
80. Do you have a favourite font?: courier new, boston traffic, gill sans, and microgramma
81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?: sure, they can do all the hard stuff while i style the pages
82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?: no
83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?: no i follow other people's websites instead on neocities and when i get a new follow i follow them back because i end up just checking their website anyway
84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?: the art
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?: i collect CDs and cassettes because vinyl is overrated
86. How often and for how long are you online?: daily. i'd love to touch grass but it's currently 1,000 degrees outside
87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?: random people who like the same stuff i do
88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?: not even gonna try to pretend to know what that is
89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?: i've done a bit of programming outside of websites. i made a falling sand game at one point but then my school blocked my own website (i dowloaded the html and js files and used that instead)
90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?: seems useful but i have no experience with them
91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?: no because that requires effort to implement
92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?: the comicfury forums
93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?: prepare it elsewhere
94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?: no
95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?: sometimes
96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?: leave it as an archive. closing it would be counterintuitive.
97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?: secretive
98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?: ditsie. she doesn't have her own personal website but she has the best comic ever archive
99. And do you optimise the images on your website?: i don't typically need to
